It finally happened…

Josh went for a run with me!


Workout:

6 miles @ 9:14 pace

2 miles + 1 mile hill repeats + 3 miles

I've been begging asking Josh to run with me since we started dating about two and a half years ago. And tonight, he finally said yes, but not without some resistance.

Josh is getting in shape for the Winter Ultimate Frisbee season, so I suggested he join me for my Wednesday hill repeat workout. He was a cross country runner in high school and is a pretty fast threat in Ultimate, so I had no doubt he could hang with this middle of the pack girl for 5 miles. Though he whined about the cold weather and the 30% chance of rain at the start, we soon got warmed up and settled into a pace we were both comfortable with on the Schuylkill River bike path. After 2 miles, we hit the pedestrian bridge where we ran 10 hill repeats, totaling a mile. I ran pretty fast up most of the hills and Josh kept up the whole time. After the hills, we ran back towards home. Josh turned off the bike path to complete 5 miles, and I added an extra mile to get in my 6 in for the day.

Once we we both home and showered, we heated up some leftover beef brisket chili and split a Lagunitas Brown Shugga'. It was a sweet and hoppy brown ale, which brought out the sweeter flavors in the chili and toned down the spiciness at the same time. 
I'm proud of Josh for getting out there tonight and pushing himself. I'm also really happy to share a part of my life with him that is usually reserved for myself. Now we're settled down watching Modern Family with the pup and sipping on Chimay Blue. Life is good. :)
