I spent last weekend in New York City, and had one of the best weekends in recent memory. My main purpose for the weekend was to visit Kleinfeld and find a wedding dress, but I managed to squeeze in as much as possible while spending time in my "home" city. I grew up about an hour north of the city, and even though I love Philly to death, NYC will always hold a very special place in my heart.
I left Philly around 12 PM, and hopped a Bolt Bus to the Big Apple. I headed straight to Times Square where I would be staying at the Marriott Marquis hotel with my mom and my Aunt Tina that night. While the hotel prepared our room, I headed to The Perfect Pint, an Irish pub down the street for a beer and some wings.

After my mom and aunt got into town, we checked in and headed straight to Carmine's for dinner. This restaurant is known for it's loud, pre-theater atmosphere and delicious Italian food.
Me and Mom
We had some yummy clams and ravioli for dinner, and for dessert, we barely made a dent in the largest tiramisu I have ever seen in real life:

Afterwards we headed over a few blocks and saw Newsies, a show based on one of my favorite childhood movies. It was fantastic!
The next day I woke up bright and early to get a run in before my bridal appointment at Kleinfeld. I headed up to Central Park, and saw many NYC marathoners getting in a final run before the race on Sunday. I had never run in Central Park before, and was surprised how hilly it was. It was pretty inspiring to see the finish line all set up for the marathon the next day.

After a chilly 11 miler and a hot shower, it was time for my wedding dress appointment at Kleinfeld! I had been looking forward to this for weeks, and prepared by watching marathons of Say Yes to the Dress, which is filmed at the salon.
Me and Aunt Tina
Aunt Tina was kind enough to buy my wedding dress, which I am eternally grateful for. In addition, I brought my mom, dad, and maid of honor with me to pick out the dress.
Everything about Kleinfeld was perfect. I was happy they weren't filming Say Yes to the Dress (it's the "off-season" right now), since things were fairly calm, and definitely not as crowded as I expected from the reviews I read online. My consultant Jacqueline was kind and intuitive, and knew exactly the style I was looking for. She was so good, in fact, that I fell in love with the first dress I tried on, a beautiful gown designed by Alvina Valenta. Although I tried on about 7 other dresses, I ended up saying "yes" to the first dress! I cannot wait to wear it on my big day.
After the Kleinfeld appointment, we headed to brunch nearby, and indulged in some mimosas and bellinis. It was a wonderful first half of a superb NYC weekend!
Stay tuned for part 2!
