Honey Stinger – A Sweet New Sponsor

Over the past five years of long distance racing, I've tried a huge variety of endurance fuels. I started out with the standard GU's and other brand gels, but found that the stickiness and flavors didn't sit well with me. I've also tried making my own energy gels (too sweet), PB & J's (too messy), pretzels (too drying), powdered drink mixes, and the list goes on and on.

The only brand I have consistently returned to since I first tried it in 2012 is Honey Stinger.

I first tried Honey Stinger products in 2012 while training for the Marine Corps Marathon. The energy chews (both caffeinated and non-caffeinated) helped me obtain a personal record at Marine Corps and then at the Philadelphia Marathon  just three weeks later. These chews are the consistency of fruit snacks , and they are damn tasty.

My favorite chews, Caffeinated Lime-ade

During ultra training in 2013, I relied on the chews to power me through long runs, but also required "real" food to get me through the super long trail runs. That's when I discovered Honey Stinger waffles. These things are like little pieces of heaven after a few hours on the trail. These versatile snacks are perfect while training, racing, or even at home with a cup of coffee or tea.

I believe the real difference between Honey Stinger and other fuels out there lies in the ingredients. All Honey Stinger products are GMO-free, and most are at least 95% organic, with many 100% organic options.

Since day one of the inception of this blog, I have promised myself (and in turn, my readers) that I would only partner with brands and products I truly believe in, and Honey Stinger is absolutely one of those. Honey Stinger is a brand I love and support so I applied for their athlete sponsorship program in early January 2014.

Over the weekend, I was thrilled to receive an email from Honey Stinger saying they had accepted my sponsorship application! I could not imagine representing another fuel brand, and I'm so excited to be a part of the Hive in 2014!

I hope to do a Honey Stinger giveaway soon, so stay tuned for that! Besides my favorite lime-ade caffeinated chews and honey waffles, they also offer gels, bars, organic honey, and more.  As I continue to try more Honey Stinger products, I will definitely post some product reviews on the blog.  Visit honeystinger.com to find out more and purchase some delicious endurance fuels!
